Happy Monday! Today, we’re talking about MINDSET and how to improve it for the benefit of your personal life, people around you, and for optimizing your goals!

The atmosphere of your mind is the make or break key of your productivity and success in any goal, whether it’s job, family, health, or personal. Here are five things you can do to turn your mindset around when the road gets challenging:

1. Practice gratitude

Dwelling on the beauty of what you do have versus what you do not have is an instant mood lifter...but it takes practice! Sometimes we do not FEEL like being thankful, but when it becomes a habit, the entire atmosphere of our lives becomes more positive. Write down at least three things for which you are thankful every day, then keep that list in a place where you can see it and remember.

2. Take in positive words

Listen to music that makes you feel happy and powerful, an audiobook that gives you motivation and courage, or a podcast by someone who is a few steps ahead of you on the journey and knows what it’s like to strive toward a goal or just get through the more challenging parts of life. Read a book that gives you inspiration and courage. Go through a meditation or list of affirmations. Words have so much power in our lives, so make sure that many of the ones you are hearing each day are building you up, not tearing you down.

3. Speak positive words

Be a force of encouragement and inspiration for others, and you will, in turn, boost your own mood as well! Helping others often brings with it a blessing that is equal to, if not better than, the help you gave the other person. And when a positive mindset is shared, it is likely that same person will be inspired to continue the wave of encouragement with others.

4. Move your body

Doing something challenging physically is often just what we need to convince ourselves that we can also do hard things in the rest of life. Plus, physical activity brings on all of those good brain chemicals that make you feel better! So have a solid sweat sesh doing your favorite sport, taking a jog, playing with your kids or dog, dancing, or just take a walk around the block a couple of times...but get moving on a regular basis and your body AND brain will thank you!

5. Spend time with uplifting community

The phrase that states you are the sum of the five people you hang out around most is pretty accurate. We start to model ourselves (sometimes unconsciously) after those people we’re around most, for better or for worse, so make sure the influences in your life are helping you get to where you want to go in all ways, including your mindset. Even though you may not be able to be around these people who are moving in a similar direction all the time, even being influenced by them once or twice a week will make a difference.
